Inspired by Cass' request.
Update 1.5
- Reworked the tilted recoil
- Removed the effect in vehicles
- Removed the effect in any throwable weapon, only guns should trigger it now
- Added all the relevant multipliers into GunRecoi.ini so you guys can finetune it yourselves
- Added Silencer multiplier
2.0 Would feature something related to NPCs. Them ragdolling when firing RPGs and not crouching (high center of mass), maybe.
Features
- Recoil system for all guns
- Supports DLC and Modded/Add-On guns
- Recoil is dynamically adjusted to account for multiple variables
- Tilted recoil (sideways)
- The Railgun now ragdolls you
- Configurable via settings file and internal cheats
Each bullet type has its own recoil value. After that:
Recoil Increases when the gun...
- is held with one hand
- is very short (SNS Pistol, for example)
Recoil decreases when the gun...
- is long-barreled
- is held with both hands
- is held on the shoulder, or you're aiming down its sights

hey great mod. In my opinion the multipliers are a little broken given the 2h nature of most weapons and x,y hand co-ordinates etc. With some tweaking i did though (for me personally) its perfect! Thanks for the effort!
NOTE TO ALL : Editing the .ini file does work if you erase all the multiplier info after the recoil settings, AND change everything to a "0.00" system instead of the horrid commas. (not too sure why they're there)
This is my current gunrecoil.ini file and i find it way more realistic to play.....harder,but way more realistic and fun,;If enabled, the railgun shot will ragdoll you briefly.
RailgunRagdolls=true;How strong is the force that'll push you back, You can fly from 10,0 upwards, just sayin'...
RailgunPhysicalForce=4.00;If enabled, recoil will take into account the current gun tilt and behave accordingly.
;Gangsta style will have left sided recoil as a consequence, for example.
TiltedRecoil=false[MULTIPLIERS]
;All the recoil multipliers, in case you don't like my calcs.;This is the base amount, in degrees, the screen will go up for anything that makes recoil.
;Then, the script will multiply or divide the value to account for context, described below.
BaseRecoil=1.50
PistolAmmoRecoil=1.50
SMGlAmmoRecoil=2.00
LMGlAmmoRecoil=2.30
SniperAmmoRecoil=6.90
RiflelAmmoRecoil=1.90
ShotgunAmmoRecoil=8.00
GrenadeLauncherAmmoRecoil=10.00
RPGAmmoRecoil=10.00
MinigunAmmoRecoil=-0.70
RailgunAmmoRecoil=4.007. September 2019 -
Also changed the horizontal recoil to false. While it is a great idea for realism I found it broke the mechanics of shooting while driving completely in the game. I never did try after i tweaked my .ini setting mind you so maybe I'm wrong! ..... Fyi ya'll this goes into your plugin folder and if you don't know what that is you should stick to vanilla GTA 5 lol.

When I edit the SniperAmmoRecoil value it does not change the recoil for my snipers, but when I edit the RiflelAmmoRecoil value it changes the recoil for both my assault rifles and my sniper rifles to the value I put in for the RiflelAmmoRecoil, even though in the debug info when I shoot my snipers in game it shows (SniperAmmo). Does anyone else have this problem/have a fix for it?

@Eddlm i highly respect your effort. You put your own time to make peoples gameplay better, and i like that. No matter how many people shit talk you over what "they don't understand" i still support you, even though i haven't figured out how this works, i love what youre going for Eddlm, keep up the good work and you do what you think is best for you and your future improvements on this mod and others.

I cant seem to get it to work, when i shoot 1 bullet of any gun it aims to the air.

@Eddlm excellent mod and script, really appreciate your time and effort. just a quick question, is there any way you can minipulate the script or base gta code to enable the recoil from the car again? and if so be able to change the values to the way i like? i'd love to use this script and have recoil from the car but i cant seem to find anything within the gta code to implement recoil from the car. any help is appreciated. :)

For some reason the recoil is insane and one simple shot will lead to aiming at the sky.
16. Oktober 2020 -
PSA: Before you go bashing this mod for "teleporting your gun into the air when shooting", poke around in the config. For whatever reason (probably just a syntax hiccup on his part), there are commas instead of decimals. Change the commas to decimals and you'll be good to go.
Great mod by the way. Makes shooting feel a bit more dynamic.

Not a great mod, poorly made and there are many other better options imo

@Eddlm not sure if u mess with this mod any more, but iv got no recoil for the shottys? iv tried to crank it up to 10 even an nothin

If you have problem with the mod change all "," into "." in the ini file of the mod
31. März 2021 -
@Eddlm could you make one for just the spread? It seems like the bullets always go where you want them to in this game, unlike IV where you had to actually aim and sometimes it would still miss

@rez5o9 Recoil was created for GTA IV a long time ago. Look up "Real Recoil" by InfamousSabre.

While working on 1.5 I have noticed some weapons have a forced camera shake (LMGs, for exaple) which screws with the experience if you have the recoil enabled. I am not able to disable those for now. I'll keep trying.
