McDonnell Douglas[1] AV-8B "Harrier" II (eng. McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harrier II) — the family of American attack aircraft vertical takeoff and landing. AV-8B "Harrier" II is a development of the earlier versions of the AV-8A "Harrier".
The Harrier was a reliable and versatile plane, but its operation in the units of the marine corps quickly identified a number of disadvantages — small range and small bomb load.
In 1973, McDonnell Douglas proposed the idea of creating a modified, improved Harrier by using the existing fuselage and tail, but with a larger wing and more powerful engine. This program, which received the designation AV-16 was cancelled after the expenditure on it exceeded $ 1 billion.
McDonnell Douglas does not give up and attempts to improve the aircraft without changing the engine. To increase the bomb load and range of the new aircraft was given a larger wing with larger tanks and a large number of suspension points. However, the refusal to replace the engine (and power) has led to the requirement that the total weight of the new aircraft to remain equal to the weight of the base model AV-8A. To achieve this McDonnell Douglas engineers decide to perform a fuselage and wings made of light materials, as well as to improve the flight properties of the aircraft. As a result a larger wing was made of graphite composite materials (lighter than aluminium and some characteristics stronger than steel). Were also increased and improved air intakes, wings mounted and large flaps to the gun container bottom of the fuselage to improve flying qualities during the takeoff and landing added a crest.
The layout of the new aircraft were shown in August 1975. First, to test two aircraft AV-8A has received the necessary improvements. The first flight of the prototype took place in late 1978. The tests were so successful that the programme has been to improve the entire Park American AV-8A. The improved aircraft was designated the AV-8C.
In the early 1980s, it was tested 4 aircraft built from scratch. In 1981 British Aerospace has concluded an agreement with McDonnell Douglas. Under the agreement British Aerospace participated in the program as a subcontractor, which meant the return of the British government in the Harrier program. Production began in 1983, McDonnell Douglas built 60 percent of the aircraft, and British Aerospace the remaining 40. AV-8B entered service with the US Marines in late 1983, the British version (GR.5) was adopted by the Royal air force later.
Based aircraft of the marine corps, there have been several modifications. In the late 80's was designed for night operations (AV-8B Night Attack) — nose was placed IR FLIR sensors, used in conjunction with night vision goggles. Only in the period 1989-1993 the year it was built 72 aircraft modifications AV-8B Night Attack. In June 1987 British Aerospace and McDonnell Douglas decided to create a modification of the Harrier II with radar. To do this, the nose of the aircraft AV-8B Night Attack mounted pulsed-Doppler radar AN/APG-65 (similar to that used on McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet). This modification allowed the aircraft to dogfight and improved its characteristics by applying ground strokes. The marine corps ordered 31 aircraft new modification (Plus), its deliveries were started in July 1993. 72 aircraft were modified in 1997. By 1997, in the Marines were armed with only a modification of Plus and Night Attack.

@SkylineGTRFreak I ch-53 will take the mh-53 is blocked
@harpeb No i mean the normal rockets... Btw i solved it, i had a backup
@SkylineGTRFreak I ch-53 made but there is a strange bug part of the salon completely gone and some holes appeared in the hull
@SkylineGTRFreak Can mh-53 link to leave? I will try to do
Finally! The Hydra gets the skin it always should have had.
+If any modder is up to the challenge, I found a Flight Simulator-add on version of the Saunders&Roe SR A1 Squirt, a jet fighter flying boat on this URL: http://www.fsxaddons.com/addons/detail/fsx-saunders-roe-sr-a1-updated/862/ which I would love to have on GTA. I miss waterplane mods, which is kinda sad for a game set on an island.
Or, alternatively, if someone could upload a YouTube video about how to convert .mdl and .cfg-type files to .yfd and .ytd files? Thanks, I'm getting frustrated with not finding any tips on the net ^^
Working good, great job !!
guys, the RPG is used for all missiles, tank shells, etc. read the gta.wiki it says its based on balance.
@SkylineGTRFreak You haven't begun to make a Boeing 747 ? I also wanted to make a model I found
Role into the vehicle after a lot of small
Model ratio as large
This model of the harrier is outdated if your looking at American military. I'm stationed on the Iwo Jima, I see these everyday.
http://www.navair.navy.mil/nawcwd/vx31/images/pages/aircraft/av8b6.jpg
That is the correct one, the nose is different, but I'm very particular
@USNCharles This model took other was all the other shit
5 stars
I absolutely am in love with this jet! Please can you make a clean glass version? PLEASE! 5STARS
@Sininside Me too, so I made a vid for those who appreciate this aircraft! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUzidZeuaXo
@fantazer_md this is really a fine mod. the only issues are: 1) texture glitches on the glass in the cockpit and 2) the missiles, when fired, are not aligned. instead of launching from a "center point" like the lazer, the missle on the right side fires from right most part of the wing and the missle on the left side fires from the innermost part of the wing. once these problems are fixed, i'll be very happy
nice mod
but there is a texture glitch in the cockpit. very annoying
@fantazer_rnd have a question of mine about permission, please see your ID
can anyone help me with this mod because my RPG is shooting missile's
@fantazer_rnd can you plz make the cockpit glass cover cleaner
