How do you remove the soft top so just the roll bars are showing for the replace method?

Ok so I solved my previous problems. The only issue I have now is that when the soft top is removed, there are still shadows cast on the people sitting inside as if the roof was still there.

i think i spent most of my GTA IV driving this car, it's was so fun to play with. thanks for sharing it again :)

ADDON version working is good - 5 stars
REPLACE version working is good, if files fj40.yft, fj40_hi.yft, fj40.ytd (files fj40.yft, fj40_hi.yft, fj40.ytd no found in game for replace) are renamed to mesa.yft, mesa_hi.yft, mesa.ytd, but don't working speedometer.
If the information from the CAR VARIATION file is added to the carvariations.ymt file (update\update.rpf\x64\data or x64a.rpf\data), then the game crashes.
In other files carvariations no found info about mesa.

@Leopoldas There is no fix for n00b mistakes, if they are not willing to learn.

First, if you are replacing Mesa, leave the car variation and handling alone. rename all the yft and ytd files from fj40 to mesa

Second, open the vehicles.meta with notepad and use search and look for <layout>LAYOUT_4X4</layout> and replace it with <layout>LAYOUT_VAN</layout> This allows the rear passengers to enter from the back instead of the sides.

Third, This is for the speedometer to work. look for <dashboardType>VDT_CAVALCADE</dashboardType> and replace it with <dashboardType>VDT_SPEEDO</dashboardType>

Lastly, look for this line

<Item>
<parent>vehicles_cav_interior</parent>
<child>mesa</child>
</Item>

change it to
<Item>
<parent>vehicles_speedo_interior</parent>
<child>mesa</child>
</Item>
