Backseat Driver (WIP) - Control Vehicles from the Back Seat
Backseat Driver is a gameplay script that allows the player to control a vehicle while sitting in the back seat. Instead of driving normally, the player issues driving commands from the rear passenger seat while an AI companion remains in the drivers seat and physically operates the vehicle.
The idea behind the mod is to create a more immersive experience for scenarios such as mafia roleplay, VIP transport, or organized crime gameplay where YOU are the boss sitting in the back while a bodyguard drives.
This is my first GTA V mod and it is still very much a work in progress, so some behaviour (especially the entry detection) is still being refined.
How the Mod Works
The player must have a bodyguard or companion ped sitting in the drivers seat. The script uses that character as the physical driver of the vehicle.
Once the player enters the rear seat, the player can control the vehicles movement from the backseat - giving the illusion that you are being driven by your companion/bodyguard.
Entering the Back Seat:
Make sure your bodyguard / companion is sitting in the drivers seat of the vehicle.
Approach the vehicle.
Hold Triangle (controller) to enter the vehicle. CONTROLLER ONLY CURRENTLY
If the conditions are correct, the player will enter the rear passenger seat instead of the drivers seat.
Note:
The entry sweet spot is currently still being refined. You may need to position yourself near the rear door area of the vehicle for the action to trigger correctly. This will be improved in future updates... It currently executes the input at 1 second of holding triangle but you must release very close to that 1 second mark...
Controlling the Vehicle from the Back Seat:
Once seated in the back:
Press D-Pad Up + Triangle at the same time
This activates the Backseat Driver control mode.
When active, the player can control the vehicles movement while remaining seated in the back seat, with the companion ped acting as the physical driver.
Press D-Pad Up + Triangle at the same time to swap back

Future updates will focus on:
Improving the back seat entry detection
Better driver animations and positioning
Compatibility with all car models
